sPARK_mAN was created when a lightning strike occurred at a nearby power substation. In the ensuing explosion, sparks danced on the ground, and then began to cluster into a new life form. That form was sPARK_mAN, a being of pure energy, but yet without a sense of self or purpose. sPARK_mAN drifted up into the ionosphere, where he floats calmly, pondering the mysteries of the universe. Occasionally, when he dreams, he emits long arcs of electricity that light up the sky.
Design notes:
I was experimenting with simple shapes and face designs. I wanted to project a sense of calm in the face. Something about the inverted triangle really appealed to me. The lightning bolt appendages balance out the top of the head. I've been asked why the character is frowning instead of smiling, but I don't look at it as a frown. It's more of a trance-like state.
